Dallas Chicken Wings

Mark your calendars, wing fanatics: July 29th is National Chicken Wing Day! It's the holiday we never knew we needed. If you happen to be in Dallas-Fort Worth for this momentous occasion, be sure to check out these great local wing spots.

  • Wing Bucket - 101 S Coit Rd #10, Richardson, TX 75080
With a name like Wing Bucket, you can be confident that you'll get some pretty awesome wings. This place doesn't disappoint, with juicy jumbo wings cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. They offer some fun and inventive sauces like bourbon, bacon, and orange ginger, as well as old standbys like mild, medium, and hot buffalo sauce. Wing Bucket is just minutes from these Richardson homes for sale, with additional locations in Downtown Dallas and Deep Ellum.

  • LB Wings - 3015 Gulden Ln, Dallas, TX 75212
At LB Wings, you can order wings by the pound. And lest you worry that you're getting quantity over quality, you can rest assured. These wings pack amazing depth of flavor and a wide spectrum of spice levels, with flavors including buffalo, chipotle BBQ, and mango-habanero. LB Wings is a stone's throw from many Dallas homes for sale, and in addition to killer wings, they also offer some really great side dishes, like fried okra, smoked green beans, and bourbon corn.

  • Gidi Wings - 921 W Commerce St, Dallas, TX 75208
The folks at Gidi Wings do one thing—make great wings—and they do it very well. This Dallas favorite offers a minimalist menu that includes wings, sides (either fries or veggies), drinks, and that's pretty much it. Choose between traditional bone-in wings or boneless wings, and decide which of their 18 wing sauces and flavors best suits your palate. Choose Volcanic Fire if you have a thing for heat or Carolina Reaper if you have a death wish.

  • Tail Feathers Wing Wagon - 2800 Bledsoe St #150a, Fort Worth, TX 76107
With a reputation as the best local wing spot in Fort Worth, Tail Feathers Wing Wagon has really got that perfect crispy-yet juicy wing thing locked down. The wings are slathered in sauce ranging from mild to inferno and served with homemade thick-cut potato chips. The only problem with Tail Feathers is that it can be hard to find. It's actually inside another business called the Whiskey Garden, just down the road from these Forth Worth homes for sale.

  • Pluckers Wing Bar - 190 E Stacy Rd Ste 1800, Allen, TX 75002
A local branch of the beloved Austin-based wing establishment, Pluckers Wing Bar is a classic hot-wings-and-cold-beer joint with a fun, welcoming atmosphere. With a location convenient to many Allen homes for sale, Pluckers is especially well-known for their incredible variety of wing sauces (more than 25 flavors to choose from) and the ability to order a whopping 100 wings.

  • Smoky Rose- 8602 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX 75218
Smoky Rose is known for making some delicious smoked meats in Dallas, from brisket and pulled pork to ribs and sausage. They offer wings too, but they do them a little differently here. The wings are slowly smoked before being flash-fried and dunked in sauce, and the result is a whole other level of flavor. They also serve up some amazing craft cocktails in their charming rustic-chic space.

Homebuilders started work on a record number of Dallas-Fort Worth homes in the second quarter as buyer demand rose by 18% from a year ago.  North Texas saw 15,346 single-family home starts in the three months ending with June — the most ever for a single quarter, according to the latest data from Dallas-based housing analyst Residential Strategies.  "As expected, it was another huge quarter for start activity," said Residential Strategies principal Ted Wilson.  "Builders established large backlogs of new home orders in the initial months of 2021," Wilson said.  North Texas builders are starting houses as fast as they can, but production obstacles are restraining construction. Wilson said for many builders, buyer demand for new homes is far outpacing their capacity to construct homes. Only 2,921 finished unsold new homes were available in the area at midyear, which amounts to an all-time-low months supply at current sales rates.

Redfin reported the bidding environment in June was less competitive as home inventory saw a modest bounce back. The brokerage said 65% of its agents' home offers faced competition last month, down from 72% the month before. Some agents see another possible factor contributing to the cooldown: buyer fatigue. With more properties to bid on and more buyers possibly dropping out of the race, the market may be shifting a bit away from its recent seller-friendly extremes.

Although it's still expected to favor sellers for the foreseeable future, several key indicators suggest the wild housing market may soon start to cool off. At least a little bit.  Recent data from Seattle-based Redfin Corp. found the number of homes newly listed for sale surpassed 2019 levels during the four weeks that ended July 4. That's the first time this year that's happened.  Homebuying demand has also recently — somewhat — tapered off.  Realtor.com found similar indications in its June housing market report. Newly listed homes were up 5.5% nationally year over year, and 11.7% higher in large metros in that same time period.  Although pending home sales were up 17% year over year, Redfin says it was the smallest increase in almost a year, since the four-week period ending July 19, 2020. Pending sales were down 6% from the four-week period ending May 30, compared to a 3% decrease in the same period in 2019.

Daryl Fairweather, chief economist at Redfin, said, "It seems that we're at a turning point in the housing market, where prices have gone up so much that buyers are backing off and home sales are starting to get sluggish," Fairweather said. "Sellers are noticing this and are wanting to sell at the top — they feel like this is as good as it gets."

Summer in Fort Worth means plenty of sunshine, but temperatures regularly approach triple digits. When they need to cool off and relax, our real estate agents head for these refreshing pools conveniently located around Fort Worth.

  • Forest Park Pool - 2850 Park Pl., Fort Worth, TX 76110
Dating back to 1922, Forest Park Pool has the distinction of being the oldest public pool near Fort Worth homes for sale. The circular pool measures 250 feet in diameter, with a depth from one to nine feet. After structural issues caused the pool to close in 2010, it received extensive repairs and renovations thanks to grants and donations totaling $830,000. Improvements include a slide and diving board, and six "Coolbrella" picnic areas. Hours are 12:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for swimmers aged 17 and younger.

  • Marine Park Pool & Aquatic Center - 303 NW 20th St., Fort Worth, TX 76106
Marine Park Pool & Aquatic Center is Fort Worth's newest swimming facility. The current aquatic center, which opened in 2013, is a $3.2 million state-of-the-art facility. Kids love to splash around on the interactive play structure, with water cannons and a tipping bucket for mock "battles." Another favorite is the large water slide. With a 3,200-square-foot bathhouse and infant changing area, the whole family can enjoy a day at Marine Park Pool. Both Marine Park Pool and Forest Park Pool offer lessons for school-aged kids through Sigma Swimming, a nationally-ranked aquatic program. Hours are 12:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. daily. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for swimmers aged 17 and younger.

  • Sycamore Spray Ground - 2525 E. Rosedale St., Fort Worth, TX 76105
Are your little ones too small to stay afloat? Take them to the Sycamore Spray Ground, where they can romp freely under a cool shower of water while their feet stay firmly planted. Proper swimwear, including swim diapers, is the only requirement for use of the spray ground. Be sure to pack a lunch to share around one of the picnic tables when the kids are ready for a break. Sycamore Spray Ground is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., and admission is free.

  • William M. McDonald YMCA - 2701 Moresby St., Fort Worth, TX 76105
