Local Restaurants & Fine Dining

Mexican food is a huge part of life in Texas, and Las Colinas is home to one of two 7 Salsas restaurants, where you can enjoy fine dining with a Mexican twist. Using recipes passed down through the family for several generations, 7 Salsas brings fresh-made salsas to the table every day, with a different recipe each day of the week.

Of course, not everyone likes Mexican food, and if your idea of great food is something else, Irving will deliver. Champps Americana is the place to go for excellent American-style faire, including burgers and fries, and Café 110 offers fresh takes on standard American food.

Visit a Park or Recreation Center

The city of Irving has multiple parks and recreation centers for its residents to enjoy, so you never have a reason to say that you are bored. The city maintains over 2,000 acres of land and 43 separate parks with everything from fishing ponds to playgrounds and even boat launches.

The Georgia Farrow Recreation Center offers classes like gymnastics, dance, Tae Kwon Do and even Rumba fitness classes for people of all ages. The Lively Skate Park welcomes teens and tweens who want a safe place to practice their favorite sports, with an in-ground bowl and 3/4 pipe as well as other features for tricks of all types.

If your children are younger, be sure to visit the Fritz Petting Farm, where they can see and even touch farm animals of all types. The petting farm is free to visit, but it is only open in June and July.

Thriving Local Art Scene

Irving is known for several types of art, and some of this can be seen in the Irving Arts Center. This complex features four separate galleries hosting exhibits in a wide range of styles. It also has two theaters, where live performances will inspire and entertain throughout the year. Kids can take arts camp here, and the facility is available for rent for community events.

Most people are well aware of the love the people of Texas have for horses, and the Mustangs of Las Colinas sculpture and museum is a tribute to this. The Mustangs of Las Colinas is one of the world's largest horse-themed sculptures, and the museum tells the story of the design of the Mustangs and other artwork from sculpture Robert Glen.

If you want to see the art and culture of another country, consider a visit to the Academy of Bangla Arts and Culture (ABAC). This facility hosts stage performances of all types to highlight the beauty of the culture of the Bangla people. It also hosts regular discussions and lectures on the language and culture of the people of Bangladesh and West Bengal.
